Hey Audrey,
Happy New Year to you and the whole family! What's the latest with the project? Your mom told me that you had enough signatures. Is the next step verification? Will your petition be on the ballot in the next election? Give us an update when you get a chance.
Take care,
Stephanie (Ms. E) and the whole class

Keep up the good work and let me know when the petitions are ready so that I can sign up my friends and family. I grow a garden in my front yard and my neighbors thought I was nuts when I started this last year. This year we made the garden bigger and our neighbors love watching everything grow and us pick our fresh produce every night. They stop in and ask all the time how our garden is doing. It will be the same way with the chickens.

I moderate the Chicago Chicken Enthusiasts Google group. We have 225 members -- and I see you're about to be #226! Welcome! There's a lot of info on the site, plus links to plenty more. I also help teach our Basic Backyard Chicken Care workshop: http://www.learngrowconnect.org/node/2121. More than 150 people have taken it in the past 2 years. In Chicago, it's legal to keep chickens as pets and for eggs, but not for slaughtering at home. We recommend that people who want to keep chickens FIRST learn about them and prepare a good coop/run and maintenance system, and check in with their neighbors. Hens need tending like any household pet but are no messier than dogs and cats, and for sure quieter than many dogs -- or cars, buses, and radios. Roosters are loud, but you don't need a rooster to get eggs, so we suggest NO roosters in the city.
We support your efforts and applaud your initiative! Let us know how we can be of help.
Best wishes - Martha

Please feel free to contact me via my email : redeaster@gmail.com--please send me your email address so we can talk further.. I don't think neighbors should have to give permission, some move and some are jerks, you are doing a good thing and don't get discouraged!!!! go green

If I lived in your city, I would sign that petition! But since I don't, good luck to you and don't stop until you get your 320 signatures! I think what you are asking is great! Good Luck Audrey!
